Transmitting radio amateurs are
obliged under International Law to
give their call sign at least once every
ten minutes. This is to ensure that calling
stations can be identified at all
times and also to prevent abuse of frequencies
allocated to radio amateurs.
This requirement is monitored conscientiously
by the relevant inspection
service, which has the authority to reprimand
and, if the offence is repeated,
to apply sanctions.
